TIPS ON HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE EFFECTIVELY

Studying the word of God is one of the most important thing to you as a christian student.2 Timothy 2: 15.

1. Read your bible Daily

Many people struggle with reading their bibles. Some don't have plans to read their bible. They only wish or hope they could daily read it. If you don't make a deliberate effort and decision to read your bible daily you might end up not reading the bible personally in a month or two.

You should not wait for a convenient time before you read your bible. Make it a habit to daily read the bible.
You may do it early in the morning before kicking off with the day's activities. You can also read it after the days work. The important thing is that you should have a plan and a particular time of the day when you read the bible. Don't wait until you feel like reading it.

2. Study the Word of God

When you study the bible you are looking at the word of God carefully. This may include making notes of what you are understanding, running a reference check, checking the meaning of words in a dictionary, looking up the root words in Hebrew and Greek dictionary and comparing scriptures among other things.

I encourage you to do more than reading the bible by moving on into studying the bible. When you study the word of God you dig dip into the bible to get the meaning of what you read  and to have a good understanding of it.

2 Timothy 2: 15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Studying the bible also equips you with facts and truths of the word of God. The more you understand the bible the better a christian you will likely be.

When you are studying your bible, pray that the Lord will open your understand to comprehend it.

Luke 24: 45

And He opened their understanding that they might comprehend the scriptures NKJV

Always ask God for understanding when studying the Word of God because it is possible to read and not understand it. What benefit is what you read that you don't understand

3. Meditate on the Word of God

When you meditate on something you concentrate your mind and thinking on it in order to aid mental or spiritual development. What does the bible say about meditating on the Word of God.

Joshua 1: 8

This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and the you will have good success.NKJV

God is telling us in the scripture above that we should meditate day and night on His word. It is when will meditate on the word of God that the word will get into our lives and make us proper and succeed. The true prosperity and success of a child of God is a product of consistent and continual meditation on the word of God. The word of God that we meditate on transforms our lives. It changes us from who we are to who God wants us to be. It does this by renewing our mind and feeding our spirits.
If you read the bible without meditating in it consistently you will have stuffs of the word of God in your head without it transforming you. It is the word of God that we meditate on that transforms our lives.

So, sit with the word of God and concentrate your thinking on it until it gets to your heart and therby affect your life.
